Peggy Epton
My medium is fabric and thread. Rich colors, fine details, and visual depth are the hallmarks of my work. From a distance, viewers often mistake my creations for a painting, but with close examination, they observe layers of fabric and intricate stitches. It is the “slowness” of the medium that causes a sense of celebration.
No patterns or programmed stitches are applied to my work --even cutting is done free hand. Most of the complex details are accomplished with hand embroidery with many of my pieces completely stitched by hand.
The inspiration for all my work lies in the natural world surrounding us. Most are typical landscapes, but even the abstract ones resemble forms in nature.
My goal is to keep my work original, honor nature, and create one-of-a-kind keepsakes with the art of decorating fabrics with needle and thread.
